چکیده

Interaction among and between mushroom / white rot and brown rot fungi or soft rot fungi, studied by the dual culture plate assays showed that the outcome of a specific interaction was strongly dependent on the two organisms concerned. Phanerochate chrysosporium as one of the partner in dual cultures, invariably scored grade 2 for colony interaction as it overgrew and covered the colony of other partner, due to its higher ability to spread and colonize the coffee pulp. Pleurotus flabellatus and Pleurotus eous showed synergistic mutual intermingling growth without any antagonistic interaction. Exceptionally Pleurotus eous and Fomes badius dual culture showed a clear antagonistic interaction seen as the inhibition zone between the two cultures.

Bridging mycorrhizal genomics, metagenomics and forest ecology.

After an initial lag phase dedicated to the sequencing of easily cultured saprotrophic fungi (among the first three published genomes were the models Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Schizosaccharomyces pombe and Neurospora crassa) and species of biomedical, agricultural or biotechnological interest, genomics is now poised to rapidly permeate the fields of fungal ecology and evolution. As regards myco...

Influence of Carbon Source on Cellulase Activity of White-rot and Brown-rot Fungi

Three white-rot fungi, Polyporus versicolor, Ganoderma applanatum, and Peniopbora “G,” produce an adaptive cellulase complex that can degrade both soluble cellulose (Cx) and microcrystalline cellulose (C1), a highly ordered form of cellulose. Production of Cx and C1 by the white-rot fungi was repressed by simple sugars. Cellualase preparations from three brown-rot fungi, Poria monticola, Lentin...

Bidirectional associations between chronic medical conditions, disability, and depressive symptoms over 25 years: Black- White differences

Background and aims: Blacks have a higher rate of chronic medical conditions (CMC), disability, and depressive symptoms compared to Whites. The present study compared Blacks and Whites for bidirectional associations between CMC, disability, and depressive symptoms over a 25-year period. Methods: Data came from all five waves (1986, 1989, 1994, 2001, and 2...

Effects of Different Levels of Protein, Lipid and their Interaction on Growth Factors of Indian White Shrimp (Fenneropenaeus indicus) Post Larvae

Three experiments of 60 days duration were conducted in post larval stage of Indian white shrimp, Fenneropenaeus indicus, to explore the appropriate protein: lipid ratios in their diets. A common ingredient mixture consisting of; fish meal, shrimp meal, ground nut oil cake, cholesterol, lecithin, vitamins and minerals blended with chicken egg albumin, tapioca flour and cellulose (filler) was us...

The Investigation of the Anti-fungal Activity of Sea Cucumber (Holothuria Leucospilota) Extracts (Body Wall, Guts and White Strings) from Chabahar Bay, Oman Sea

Compounds obtained from marine organisms have been isolated due to their anti-bacterial and antifungal activities. In this study, the antifungal activity of aqueous-methanol, methanol, chloroform and n-hexane extracts of body wall, guts and white strings of sea cucumber (Holothuria leucospilota) collected from Chabahar Bay in 100 to 2000 μg/ml concentrations is discussed. The antifunga...
